Players not selected in Adelaide’s Round Two team will play against Port Adelaide in a scratch match ahead of this weekend’s Showdown.

With only Riley Knight unavailable for selection this week, the Crows could have as many as 21-listed players participating in the Saturday afternoon clash at Adelaide Oval.

For this weekend’s scratch match, each team will feature 16 a side playing across four 20-minute quarters with no time on.

Crows Head of Football Adam Kelly said the session will provide valuable exposure for non-selected players, providing them with an opportunity to push for senior selection.

“We see great value in the opportunity for match simulation against other AFL teams,” Kelly said.

“Our players worked really hard over the training suspension period and have approached the past few weeks with vigour.

“In the absence of an opportunity to play in the SANFL competition, these trials become critical in the development and preparation of our players as well as providing the chance to be rewarded for their efforts with AFL selection.”

The Crows are also working with the Suns, Lions and Dockers to arrange corresponding scratch matches whilst in the Gold Coast hub.
