Update: Douglas 4-6, Walker close
Crows forward Taylor Walker is edging closer to a return from his knee injury but Richard Douglas will miss 4-6 weeks with an ankle strain.
Crows forward Taylor Walker is edging closer to a return from his knee injury but Richard Douglas will miss 4-6 weeks with an ankle strain.
Douglas suffered the injury in Saturday night’s win over Sydney and scans have confirmed the Crows midfielder has a high ankle strain.
Walker, who strained a knee in round ten against Brisbane, will increase his training this week in a bid to be ready to play for Norwood in the SANFL this Saturday.
Adelaide, which has a bye this weekend and then plays Essendon at AAMI Stadium on Friday, July 15, will probably lose two players from Saturday night’s winning line-up.
Douglas (ankle) will be unavailable and upgraded rookie Ian Callinan will also miss about 2-3 weeks with a hamstring strain.
Chris Knights (calf) was unavailable for his SANFL club Woodville-West Torrens on Sunday and will be tested this week, along with Ricky Henderson and Sam Shaw (both concussion from the previous round).
Chris Schmidt, who had minor knee surgery last week, will be out for about six weeks.
Most of Adelaide’s squad has a few days off this week before returning to the Club on Friday for a closed training session.
