Knights developed a case of plantar fasciitis over the summer and was dealt another blow in February when scans also revealed a stress fracture in his foot.
Once Knights recovered from the stress fracture, he returned to the Crows side for consecutive games between rounds three and five only to suffer a recurrence of the plantar fasciitis.
He is listed as a ‘test’ on the club’s official injury list, but failed to train during the week and Craig said the 23-year-old was making slow progress.
“Chris has got some foot problems and we’re doing our absolute best to try and get him back on the track. It’s slow at the moment and it’s causing frustration for him,” Craig said.
“We’ve just got to keep the treatment that we’re using at the moment and try and get him back as soon as we can.
"It’s slower than what we like and I can’t give you a timeframe.”
Former St Kilda star Robert Harvey made headlines a few years back when he revealed he’d jumped off the kitchen table to try and tear his strained plantar fascia to enable it to heal quicker.
The club, while not suggesting Knights would take such drastic action in his own rehabilitation, said Harvey’s injury was very different.
In better news, Rory Sloane (ankle) is expected to line up for SANFL side North Adelaide this weekend, while midfield trio David Mackay (groin), Patrick Dangerfield (hand) and Brad Symes (knee) should return to the field over the next fortnight.
Utility James Sellar is also likely to play for Glenelg next weekend, after missing five weeks with a hamstring injury.
