Adelaide great Tony Modra has delivered a message to key forward Taylor Walker after the latter tied the goalkicking record for the Club.

Walker is just one goal away from becoming Adelaide’s all-time leading goalkicking after booting number 440 against Greater Western Sydney in Round 16.

The message was recorded by Triple M and played for Walker on Roo & Ditts on Tuesday morning.

“Hey Tex, Mods here mate, just want to be the first to say congratulations champ if you beat my record this weekend,” Modra said.

“I’ve watched you as a skinny boy from Broken Hill with a mullet right through to the captain of the side that made the granny in 2017.

“You should be very proud of what you achieved along the way. What I’ve liked is you’ve never changed who you are, give plenty of time to the supporters and especially love helping the kids out.

“All the best against the Tiges this weekend and I look forward to having a beer with you at the end of the season. Onya mate!”

Modra has held the record since departing the Club at the end of 1998.

Walker confirmed on Tuesday he would be fit to face Richmond on Saturday afternoon.

“I was touch and go (last week), the ankle was a little bit sore,” Walker said.

“I decided not to put myself out there… leave it (playing) to this weekend.”
