Adelaide recruit Riley Thilthorpe has labelled Wednesday night’s draft as “pretty much the best scenario”, having landed him at the Crows.

The lifelong Crows fan was called with Pick No.2 and immediately rejoiced with family and friends at the West Adelaide Football Club.

And thanks to his new teammates, Thilthorpe is already feeling like “part of the team”.

“My family were happy for me to move interstate to chase my dreams… but it’s pretty much the best scenario, the one that happened,” Thilthorpe told Adelaide radio on Thursday.

“I’d say I’m more excited than nervous… I haven’t met a lot of my teammates but they all sent a text last night and I got a few calls.

“I already feel part of the team, it’s awesome.”

Thilthorpe will meet his new teammates in person on Friday, following an AFL mandated Covid-19 test on Thursday.

For the 18-year-old, the reality is still to set in.

“It probably hasn’t hit me just yet,” he said.

“It’s been so crazy, I’m playing for the Crows.

“It’s unbelievable.”

Thilthorpe will join a strong SA contingent of draft picks, including good friend Luke Pedlar, who joined the Club via pick No.11 on Wednesday night.
