Adelaide will return to the SANFL competition in 2021 after an 18-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their season will begin on Friday, April 2 in the opening round of the 2021 SANFL season, where they’ll take on the Panthers at Noarlunga.

The SANFL released the 2021 fixture on Friday, with the first half of the season locked in and the second half a floating fixture.

Crows Head of Football Adam Kelly said the Club was looking forward to the challenge of being back in the competition and competing strongly.

“The SANFL is a wonderful competition with unrivaled public interest and we are looking forward to season 2021 with great expectation,” Kelly said.

“We have assembled a wonderful coaching group for the season ahead, with experienced SANFL premiership coach, Michael Godden, leading the program and supported by assistants, Brent Reilly and Matthew Wright and the influence of recently appointed head of development, Marco Bello.

“We really value our place in the SANFL competition and it is an important component of our Football Club.

“Having not been a part of the competition in 2020 due to the pandemic, it is great to be back with the competition looking particularly strong in 2021.”

Adelaide’s fixture highlights include the first SANFL Showdown in Round Six at Alberton Oval on Saturday, May 8 and Indigenous Round against Glenelg in Round 13.

The Crows will travel to Victor Harbor to take on South Adelaide in the annual country game in Round 14.

In Round 17, the second SANFL Showdown will take place at Adelaide Oval as a curtain raiser to the AFL Showdown in the first weekend of August.

Adelaide will play each SANFL team twice throughout the season and, except for Round 17, be the away team travelling to the home teams’ venues.

The SANFL finals will start in the last weekend of August and continue through September, with the grand final on Sunday, September 19.

All finals matches will be played at Adelaide Oval.

More information about ticketing and how Crows members can access SANFL games will be released closer to the season.
