Adelaide midfielder Matt Crouch has been ruled out of Saturday's practice match against Port Adelaide due to hip and groin soreness.
Crouch, who underwent a hip arthroscopy on his right hip following the 2020 season, played half of the Club's internal trial last weekend.
Assistant coach Nathan van Berlo confirmed on Thursday that Crouch would not play in Saturday's practice match.
"Matt's had a good solid block of training coming back from hip surgery and it's to be expected that other parts of the body (groin) might flare up," van Berlo said.
"As you can understand, it's a no-risk policy. He didn't train today but if he pulls up well next week that's definitely on the table.
"We don't want to take any risks."
Greater Western Sydney recruit Jackson Hately has been touted to help the midfield void left by Crouch on Saturday.
"Jackson Hately will be there to make up some minutes in the midfield," van Berlo said.
Mature-aged recruit James Rowe will also feature in Adelaide's 25-man squad, which will be revealed on Thursday evening.
