Scans have confirmed Adelaide defender Angela Foley has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee.

The acting captain landed awkwardly during the third quarter of the AFLW Grand Final and took no further part in the game.

Crows Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said the Club will do everything to assist Foley over the coming months.

“Ange is a highly respected leader, teammate and friend, and we are devastated for her,” Harper said.

“She will now meet with the surgeon and is expected to undergo an operation in the coming week.

“The Club is right behind her and we will support her every step of her rehab journey.”

Foley is an inaugural Crows AFLW player who has played 40 games for the Club.

The tenacious defender was Adelaide’s acting captain in the Grand Final and has been a member of the leadership group for the past five seasons.
