Adelaide assistant coach James Rahilly says the Club is refusing to take the upcoming Round 15 clash against Carlton lightly.

The Blues are coming off a 36-point loss to GWS, while the Crows had the bye last week.

Despite the loss, Carlton surged in the third quarter against the Giants and Rahilly was expecting the side to come out firing against Adelaide.

“We just watched a bit of them (Carlton) and they’ve still got so many threats,” Rahilly said.

“I’m looking at their defenders who are intercept marking defenders.

“Then you’ve got (Adam) Saad and (Zac) Williams who can really break lines.

“When their midfield gets on top, they score a lot as well.

“They’ve got a lot of threats that we’ve got to be aware of.”

Adelaide is eyeing a second consecutive victory after a goal from Riley Thilthorpe led to a win over St Kilda before the mid-season break.

The Crows’ backline will be boosted with the likely return of defender Luke Brown, who has recovered from an Achilles injury.

Rahilly said the focus against Carlton this Sunday would be on playing a contested brand of football.

“We haven’t been as sharp around the contest,” Rahilly said.

“That’s what we are working on for four quarters, really, that ability to own the ball and own the game a little bit more.”
