Adelaide captain Rory Sloane says saying goodbye to two experienced footballers at season’s end will be tough but backs the Club’s list management with its decisions.

The Crows announced this week key defender Daniel Talia and forward Tom Lynch would not be offered new contracts.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Sloane said Talia and Lynch had been great servants of the Club.

“It’s an incredibly tough time of year, this little period, because you can lose some of your greatest mates at a footy Club,” Sloane said.

“Tom and Tals are certainly those two who’ve been through an incredible amount of good times and some tough times, with those two inparticular.

“They are great human beings, so that’s always the hardest thing, saying goodbye to those sorts of people.

“Who knows what’s in store for them both but we wish them all the best as a footy Club.”

Talia has been unable to take the field in 2021 due to an off-season knee operation, followed by a foot injury which also required surgery.

But Sloane credited the backman for the work he had done with developing the youngsters.

“Daniel has played a huge role in the development of those two, in particular Jordon Butts,” Sloane said.

“Buttsy spent a lot of time with Tals, especially in the early days.

“We couldn’t be happier with his development, you’ve seen how he’s performed this year and how Nick Murray has come along… Billy Frampton is in some really good form down there as well, so we’ve got a few options.”

Adelaide takes on top-placed Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday at 1.40pm (ACST) and Sloane said the side was ready for the challenge.

“They are incredibly good footballers and it’s a good challenge for our midfield group. (It was) one we were up to last time,” Sloane said.

“A lot of our group hasn’t played on the MCG.

“That’s the thing I’m excited about the most, we finally get another game on the MCG.”
