Ben Davis and Shane McAdam have been named in Adelaide’s final 22 to face Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.

Davis will start his first game of 2021 after serving as the medical substitute in Round 17 and Round 21.

McAdam returns to the side for the first time since Round 15.

“Shane McAdam will play. We looked back over our form and as a team we weren’t playing our best footy for a period of time when Shane was playing forward of the ball,” coach Matthew Nicks said on Friday.

“(He’s) freshened himself up, he’s taken his game - or at least his work rate - to another level while he’s been back in the SANFL so we’re really pleased with that.

“We hope to see that this week that he’s able to bring that higher work rate which we saw in his best games. His movement was dynamic, he’s got some X-factor about him so hopefully we see that."

Ruckman Kieran Strachan was a confirmed inclusion on Thursday following Reilly O’Brien’s knee injury sustained in Round 21.

Will Hamill and Brodie Smith will both miss Round 22 under the AFL’s Concussion Protocol.

Lachlan Sholl, Sam Berry, Lachlan Gollant and Billy Frampton have been named as emergencies with one to be confirmed as the medical substitute one hour before the game.

Sunday’s game commences at 1.40pm ACST (2.10pm AEST) and will be televised live on Channel 7 in Adelaide.

The game will also be televised live nationwide on Fox Footy.
