Exciting small forward Tyson Stengle played two AFL games after Richmond drafted the South Aussie in the 2017 Rookie Draft. Two years later, he was traded to Adelaide ahead of the 2019 season. Growing up, he played for Portland Football Club while he was at Woodville-West Torrens. He kicked 37 goals in 19 games with the Eagles Reserves and Under-18s. During the 2016 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships he was one of SA’s key players. Stengle is the latest in a talented footballing family, he is the cousin of Eddie Betts and nephew of Sydney legend Michael O’Loughlin.
He led the way in the forward line for the SANFL Crows in 2019, before making his Club debut in Round 17. The former Richmond player booted five goals in two games for Adelaide. In the SANFL he was a consistent goal threat, kicking 36 goals in 16 games. Stengle had a trio of four-goal hauls. During the off-season, he was handed the No. 18 guernsey by Betts.
