Growing up in Victoria, Jake Kelly was a part of a talented football family. His father Craig was a premiership player with Collingwood and younger brother Will was selected by Collingwood in 2018 as a father-son pick. Kelly was a 2014 rookie draft pick for Adelaide and the hard-running defender made his AFL debut in 2015, playing 10 games. Over his first two seasons he established a starting role in the best-22 on the back of effective ball use and intercept ability. Kelly featured in all 22 games during 2019, one of seven Crows to do so. Averaged 16.2 disposals and a career-best 4.8 one percenters per game. Kelly accumulated elite spoil numbers with an average of 4.3. He signed a two-year contract extension in August.
