Adelaide have played West Coast 45 times for 20 wins and 25 losses.

Incredibly, the last three contests between the two sides have all been decided by 29 points.

The Crows have lost the last two of those, both taking place in Round 23. Those two clashes have also had identical final scores, with West Coast winners in both 2016 and 2017, 100 – 71.

Only half the side that lost to the Eagles in Round 23 last year pulled on the tricolours in Adelaide’s most recent game, the Round 13 loss to Hawthorn

Matt Crouch was one of those 11 players, with the All Australian collecting 45 disposals and two Brownlow votes the last time he faced the Eagles. Brad Crouch (42 disposals) and Rory Sloane (38 disposals) were also prolific.

Crouch’s tally ranked second for most disposals in a game by a Crow, behind Scott Thompson’s 51 against Gold Coast in 2011.

While Crouch couldn’t top Thompson’s mark, premiership heroes Darren Jarman and Mark Ricciuto do hold Club records for individual feats against the Eagles.

Jarman shares the mantle for most kicks in a game by an Adelaide player with 31 against the Eagles in 1996. Meantime, Ricciuto’s 16 inside 50s against the Eagles in 1998 has never been topped by an Adelaide player.

Ricciuto also holds the record for most clearances in a game by a Crow, with 16 against West Coast in Round 4, 2000. That game at the WACA wasn’t one to remember for the visitors, with Scott Cummings booting 14 goals to lead the Eagles to a 114-point victory.

Both sides are currently on losing streaks. Adelaide have lost their last four games, their worst losing streak since 2011, while West Coast have dropped their last two to Sydney and Essendon after winning 10 consecutive games.

West Coast and Adelaide are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the AFL for kicks. The Eagles have a strong preference to use the Sherrin by foot, with a kick-to-handball ratio of 1.76.

Eagles captain Shannon Hurn leads the league for effective kicks (196), short kicks (129) and marks (112). Prolific midfielder Andrew Gaff is No. 1 in the AFL for uncontested possessions (267) and top five for disposals and received handballs.

West Coast also have the top two contested marking players in the AFL in Jeremy McGovern and injured forward Jack Darling, while Jamie Cripps leads the AFL for tackles inside forward 50 with 27.
