Patrick Dangerfield was the only Crow to poll votes from the coaches in Adelaide’s loss to West Coast at Domain Stadium on Saturday night.

Dangerfield was a shining light in his team’s 56-point loss to the Eagles.

Despite spending several minutes off the ground to receive treatment on a cut lip, the damaging midfielder amassed an equal game-high 36 possessions, including 21 contested. He won more clearances (12) than any other player in Round 15, and laid a team-high eight tackles. He also took six marks, generated five inside 50ms and assisted in a goal. Dangerfield has polled more votes (32) in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award than any other Crow this season.

Coaches Scott Camporeale and Adam Simpson couldn’t split West Coast pair Andrew Gaff and Nic Naitanui for best afield honours. Gaff and Naitanui, who were instrumental in giving the Eagles the ascendancy in the midfield, each received nine votes.

Gaff was the equal-leading possession-getter on the ground with Dangerfield. The hard-running wingman also kicked three goals from his 36 disposals and generated 10 inside 50ms. Naitanui was unstoppable in the ruck, winning 39 hit-outs and seven clearances.

Luke Shuey was adjudged the next-best player on the ground, earning three votes. Shuey finished the match with 31 possessions, nine clearances and two goals. Half-forward Jamie Cripps, who kicked 1.2 and sent West Coast inside attacking 50m 10 times, collected two votes. Reigning Brownlow Medallist Matt Priddis also received two votes after gathering 31 possessions, seven clearances and a goal in his team’s big win.

Despite not polling a vote on the weekend, Fremantle star Nat Fyfe remains the runaway overall leader with 100 votes. Dan Hannebery collected another six votes in Round 15, but is still 25 behind Fyfe in second spot. Gaff’s nine votes was enough to move him into equal-third with Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury.

Six players polled perfect 10s on the weekend; Port Adelaide’s Ollie Wines, Richmond defender Alex Rance, Western Bulldogs midfielder Marcus Bontempelli, Ben Cunnington of North Melbourne, Hawthorn ball magnet Sam Mitchell and Swans onballer Josh Kennedy.

Adelaide and Geelong players have had one less game to poll votes in as a result of the Round 14 match being cancelled.
