The Adelaide Football Club has partnered with SEDA College to assist local high school students wanting to pursue a career in the sport and recreation industry.

The Adelaide Crows Sports Development Program provides students in Years 11 and 12 with the opportunity to complete their SACE studies within sport and community settings.

For prospective students, this is a chance to achieve educational and industry qualifications while gaining a first-hand understanding of the sports industry through involvement with the Adelaide Crows.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from staff within the organisation and participate in a range of programs and events including:

  • Work placements and volunteer opportunities.
  • Matchday activations and events.
  • Coaching across many different settings – Auskick, schools, multicultural and all abilities activities.
  • Activities and events – fan development, family days and community events.
  • Meeting and engaging with AFL players and coaches in high-performance environments.
  • Level 1 Coaching and AFL Basic Umpiring Course, delivered by the industry.

The program offers:

  • Tailored career plans for individual students– developing individual career goals for students and providing pathway opportunities to employment or further study.

  • Unique industry opportunities– education that takes place in the industry with networking and workplace opportunities with leading sporting and community partners.

  • Education for life beyond school– working to develop personal and career skills essential for life beyond the classroom including leadership, integrity, resilience, and critical thinking.

  • Hands-on learning environment– application of theoretical classroom learning into practical learning activities, tailored to meet individual needs.

A selection process will be conducted by SEDA College staff for prospective students to be accepted in the program; however, selection is not dependent on sports skill or ability.

Abbey Mozuras – 2019 Year 12 SEDA College SA AFL Student

My experience at SEDA College so far has provided me with many opportunities to work closely with the Adelaide Crows Football Club. I have been given the chance to run coaching clinics, pre-game activities, community events and much more that has helped me figure out a future pathway. I have gained so many work skills to prepare me for the workplace and industry I wish to pursue and allow me to accomplish my future goals.

Tom Harvey – 2019 Year 12 SEDA College SA AFL Student

The opportunities that I’ve had while at SEDA compared to other schools with opportunities they provide have helped me decide what I want to do after school and what I can do to get to the career I hope of getting in. Someone that is really keen to work or play in a professional sports industry this school is the right pathway to go and you will not regret making move to SEDA.
