Adelaide Chairman John Olsen says the Club is grateful for all the support its members, fans and partners have shown during another challenging year.

The Crows ended their 2021 AFL season with a 44-point victory against North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Speaking at the Chairman’s function before the match began, Mr Olsen said the support was invaluable as the Club navigated another Covid-interrupted campaign.

“It’s been an interesting year,” Mr Olsen said.

“We’ve had our challenges on and off the field during 2021, we’ve had to navigate the pandemic and the changes forced upon us at short notice.

“To all of those who have been supportive of us during the course of this year, thank you very much, sincerely, for the support of the Adelaide Football Club.

“It’s really meant a lot to us to have that consistency of support during the course of the year.”

Mr Olsen also paid tribute to AFL General Manager of Inclusion and Social Policy Tanya Hosch and the Club’s Reconciliation Action Plan Committee Chair Dr Roger Thomas.

He said the pair had guided and supported the Club following the racial vilification incident involving Taylor Walker.

“To Tanya and Roger can I say a very sincere thank you for the support and the guidance you have given the Adelaide Football Club in recent times,” Mr Olsen said.

“There is no doubt the advice that you give us is really valuable advice on the management of issues, the value that you put into the Reconciliation Action Plan and its implementation is sincerely appreciated.

“We don’t stand for racial vilification.”

The Crows’ win was a fitting farewell to three Club greats in Daniel Talia, David Mackay and Tom Lynch.

“Change is inevitable and we farewell players who have given great service to this Club,” Mr Olsen said.

“We are on a journey and we hope you stay with us with a bit of patience on the journey as these young guys really develop their talent and skill.”
