The Crows and Power are coming together in August to showcase some of South Australia’s best young talent, in the inaugural Next Generation Academy Showdown.

Taking place at Alberton Oval on Saturday, August 11, the game will feature the top Under-15’s from the SANFL who are part of the two SA teams’ Next Generation Academies.

Young guns from Sturt, Glenelg, North Adelaide and Central Districts will represent Adelaide, while Port’s team will be filled by Norwood, South Adelaide, West Adelaide and Woodville West Torrens players.

There will be a number of father-son players taking part across the two teams, such as Kane Viska – son of former Crows defender Mark Viska.

Injured Crows midfielder Brad Crouch will be an assistant coach in the lead up to and during the game, helping Next Generation Academy Coordinator Jarrod Meers who will coach the Crows side.

Former Adelaide 300-gamer Scott Thompson will also be involved, helping coach the Port Academy.

Next year, the Next Generation Academy Showdown will be played at Adelaide Oval as a curtain raiser to an AFL Showdown.
