Adelaide midfielder Jake Soligo is confident his best is ahead of him as the Crows prepare for the run home.

The squad returned to training on Wednesday, following a few days off due to the mid-season bye, with Soligo welcoming the chance to reset and refocus ahead of the second half of 2026.

“I am feeling pretty good,” Soligo said.

“I had a few games (recently) that have been a bit nicer for me in terms of form.

“It was a bit up-and-down in terms of my form at the start of the year, and I’m not exactly where I want to be, but hopefully I can turn it around in the second half of the year and finish strong.

“I feel like I’ve built my fitness back to a level where I can compete and play my role for the team, whether that’s in the forward line or midfield, as long as I’m out there with the boys and winning games, I am happy.”

Soligo had a tough start to the season, missing a practice match in February after it was found he had an irregular heartbeat.

He successfully underwent a minimally invasive heart procedure (a cardiac ablation) to correct the issue and quickly returned to training.

After building up his fitness and lining up in the first five games of 2026, an ankle injury sustained in the Crows’ Gather Round win against Carlton forced him onto the sidelines again.

He returned through the SANFL, before earning selection into the AFL side for Showdown 59.

Despite the minor setbacks this season, including the heart condition which he initially thought could halt his footy career, Soligo believes he is now out the other side of it all.

“I didn’t really know what it was, I thought it was just fatigue, but it ended up being an irregular heartbeat,” Soligo said.

“Looking back now, it was probably not that big of a deal, but at the time, it did feel like it was something that wasn’t going to go too well, and I was a little bit nervous about it, and it was a little bit scary.

“The ankle injury was a little annoying because I felt I was finding my straps a little bit and finding some form, but coming back through the SANFL was really good for me as well.

“It gave me a bit of confidence to be able to find the ball again and I have been very lucky since I have been at the Crows that I haven’t had many disappointments throughout my career.”

Adelaide enters the second half of the season in seventh spot on the ladder with a 6-5 win-loss record, with Soligo saying inconsistency has been the biggest challenge so far.

And it’s an area the Crows will be looking to address as they aim to consolidate their push into finals contention.

“I think we have been a little bit inconsistent, but we are only one game off where we were this time last year, so it’s not like we have completely gone backwards,” Soligo said.

“Just the inconsistencies with playing four quarters, but when we do bring our best it’s clear we can compete with the best.

“It’s about refining what we do well and going back and looking at things we don’t do well to get back to our best.

“I am very confident we’ll be able to get there.”

Adelaide will resume its campaign with a match against Geelong at Adelaide Oval next Thursday night (June 4).

Soligo said it would be another chance for the team to test itself against one of the best in the competition and was eyeing revenge after the Cats beat the Crows in Round Three.

“We love playing in front of the home crowd, so it will be pretty nice, Thursday night games are always pretty up and about, against Geelong as well, and they’re going really well,” Soligo said.

“They got the better of us in Round Three, we know they’re a good side, so we are looking forward to next week.

“We all know our form hasn’t been at the level it could be but everyone has had a break now and is ready to work hard to get up to a level where we are all flying.”
