Adelaide defender Billy Frampton says the Round Seven victory against the Western Bulldogs rates as one of the best he’s been involved in while playing AFL.

Frampton enjoyed a standout game in the one-point win against the Bulldogs in Ballarat on Saturday, finishing with 26 disposals.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the 25-year-old said the Crows’ ability to fight out the game and get the result made it one of the most memorable matches.

“We’ve had a few good ones (wins) in the past couple of years,” Frampton said.

“But in terms of opposition and the way we were playing and being able to wrestle back a bit of momentum, I thought it was really impressive.

“In the past couple of years we might’ve rolled over but the way we fought back momentum and stuck to our game plan was really pleasing.

“It gives us a lot of confidence, a lot of belief as well that our game plan works.”

“It gives us a lot of confidence, a lot of belief as well.

Frampton, who joined the Crows from Port Adelaide at the end of 2019, began his AFL career as a forward.

But after two seasons with the Crows’ forward line, Senior Coach Matthew Nicks and assistant Scott Burns decided to try Frampton in defence.

And the switch proved to be the right move, with Frampton saying he was enjoying the new role.

“I think it was last year against Essendon I got shifted back,” Frampton said.

“I must’ve shown a little bit and throughout the week he (Nicks) said ‘I want to chuck you back there in the SANFL’.

“I went pretty well in my couple of games there and we stuck to it and decided to stay there over the pre-season and build a bit of continuity.

“I am starting to feel a lot more comfortable down back.

“I get to see the game from a different angle down that end of the ground and I get to try something new.

“I’ve really enjoyed the switch and it sort of opens up how I want to play.”

Frampton said competition for spots was strong and the side had confidence its best was good enough to match it with the top sides in the competition.

“Each game I play I feel like I’m on the edge and I don’t want to give up the spot,” Frampton said.

“It’s taken a while for me to get here so I’ll keep doing what I can to hold onto that every week.

“The way we play and the way we’ve been training has given us a lot of belief that we should be around the mark.”
