Adelaide Head Trainer Vinnie Del Bono has seen many changes on and off the field over the past three decades.

Del Bono, who joined the Club in 1993, has just celebrated his 30th anniversary of being employed at the Crows.

Speaking with Sauce and Thomo on last week’s episode of The Crows Radio Show, Del Bono said he began working with the Club on a part-time basis while teaching at St Michael's College, before he was appointed the Head Trainer role full-time in 2007.

Del Bono said his favourite part of the role was getting to know the players and watching their development as people.

“You need to know the players and I suppose their characteristics and once you get to know them it is also a trust factor as well,” Del Bono said.

“You know when to joke around, when to be serious and sometimes you have to put them into line as well which is not easy.

“For me it is seeing these elite athletes start off as teenagers and then develop into some great footballers of this club and then become fathers.

“That’s the amazing thing for me, just (seeing them reach) their full potential.”

Having been involved with almost every player that has put on a Crows guernsey, Del Bono said he still kept in contact with many former Crows stars.

“I enjoy it because you develop those relationships with the boys... and they do keep in contact when they see you,” Del Bono said.

“When you are playing against them, they will come out of their way and say g’day and some that are in managers roles will say g’day which is good, because you have earnt the respect both ways.

“It puts a smile on my face.”
