Adelaide and Carlton have played 43 times and the Crows hold a slight advantage in the head-to-head ledger – 22 wins to 21.

But the Blues have been the more successful side in recent times, winning three of the past five meetings.

The last time the two teams went head-to-head was in Round 20, 2022, when Adelaide pulled off a memorable 29-point victory, thanks to a rousing performance from Ben Keays who had 21 disposals, three goals and four goal assists.

Defender Brodie Smith was also impactful, winning plenty of the ball and helping launch Adelaide forward, amassing 37 touches, eight marks and 1019 metres-gained.

Adelaide’s biggest win against Carlton came in Round 23, 2018 - a 104-point victory.

Former forward Josh Jenkins booted seven goals in that game, while Jordan Gallucci kicked four majors.

In the past five meetings between the two teams, Adelaide midfielder Rory Laird has been impressive averaging 30.4 disposals and six tackles, while forward Taylor Walker has averaged 2.8 goals against the Blues since 2020.

For Carlton, Captain Patrick Cripps has dominated in the Blues’ engine room averaging 30.2 disposals, 10.2 clearances and 5.6 tackles in the past five games, while Sam Walsh who is set to play his first game of the season this week, has averaged 31.2 disposals, six marks and five inside 50’s.

Adelaide's defenders will have a big task on Thursday night as they attempt to limit the influence of Blues forward Charlie Curnow, who is currently second in the Coleman Medal race, averaging four goals a game along with 6.5 marks and 9.3 score involvements.

Carlton will need to pay extra attention to Crows Skipper Jordan Dawson who has been spending more time in the midfield and is coming off a huge performance against Fremantle, when he had 27 disposals, six tackles, five clearances and 598 metres-gained.

Adelaide Senior Coach Matthew Nicks has coached against Carlton three times, winning twice and losing once.

As a player, Nicks rarely tasted defeat to the Blues, winning nine of the 12 games he played against them.

Blues Senior Coach Michael Voss will be hoping to even up his coaching record against the Crows, he has a losing record during his time at the helm of Brisbane and Carlton – four wins and five losses.

Carlton has struggled to get results in the 33 games they have played in Adelaide - 11 wins, one draw and 21 losses.

The Blues will be hoping to win its first game at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night, having lost all six of its games at the stadium.

If Adelaide wins it will be the team’s third consecutive victory of the season and will help keep their spot in the top eight.
