The Adelaide Football Club extends its deepest sympathies to the Robran family on the passing of Barrie, who is widely regarded as one of the State’s greatest ever players.
A member of both the South Australian and Australian Football Hall of Fames, who also held Legend status in the latter, Robran played 201 games for North Adelaide between 1967 and 1980.
His son Matthew is also a two-time Crows premiership player and Life Member.
Crows Chairman John Olsen described Robran as a humble champion who was highly respected and admired among the football community and beyond.
“Barrie’s contribution to our game was immense and more importantly, the manner in which he carried himself as a person both on and off the field leaves a lasting legacy,” Olsen said.
“The collective thoughts of everyone at our Club are with Barrie’s family and friends.”
Robran won three Magarey Medals, multiple best and fairest awards and two premierships during his playing career with the Roosters.
He was named in the SANFL club’s Team of the Century and represented South Australia on 17 occasions, including as Captain in 1974.
