Jordan Dawson has been named the AFL’s best captain in the annual AFL Players’ Association awards.

Voted in by his peers, Dawson is the first Crow since Taylor Walker (2016 and 2017) to claim the award.

“It’s an honour to receive this award, particularly given the pedigree of captains across the league,” Dawson said.

“Replacing someone of Rory Sloane’s calibre back in 2023 was a daunting task, but I feel as a Club we’ve made some really impressive strides recently, particularly this year.

“I’m also fortunate to be supported by an incredible Senior Leadership Group and the coaches we have at West Lakes.

“A big thanks has to go to Nicksy who put enormous faith and trust in me to lead this Club.”

Adelaide Coach Matthew Nicks said it was a well-warranted award for Dawson after he led the Crows to a Minor Premiership in 2025.

“Daws epitomises leadership at our football Club,” Nicks said.

“His leadership qualities were evident to us from day one, and we had full belief he would succeed in the role even with it being just his second season at the Club.

“We’re extremely proud of the Senior Leadership Group we have in place and Jordan deserves full credit as the man who leads it."
