More than 100 students from the Tjindu Foundation and Sports College SA came together at the end of September for the Adelaide Crows Foundation’s annual Reconciliation Shield at Prospect Oval.
The day included two powerful matches (girls and boys) that united schools, cultures, and communities through the shared love of football.
Each game was played in the true spirit of reconciliation – with courage, respect, and sportsmanship leading the way.
Beyond the scoreboard, students took time to reflect and share what reconciliation means to them – their voices a reminder that healing, truth-telling, and unity begin with honest conversations and shared experiences.
Crows AFLW forward Danielle Ponter attended the event to present the Best on Ground Awards and spend time with the students.
“Being part of the day was incredible,” Ponter said.
“Seeing young people lead with such respect and unity made me so proud, and I felt lucky to play even a small part.
“Sport is such a great way to share lessons that really matter off the field, and days like this give me so much hope for what’s ahead.
“Moments like these show us the power of sport to connect, empower and inspire.”
Tjindu Foundation’s Zack Young was awarded the Best on Ground award for the boys’ match and Sports College SA’s Mikaylah Antony for the girls’ match. For their efforts, both players received a signed 2025 Adelaide Football Club First Nations Guernsey.
This year’s event was the third running of the Reconciliation Shield.
