A two-time premiership player, a dashing defender and a club stalwart have been awarded Crows Life Membership.
Peter Caven, Wayne Milera and Steve Edgecomb were announced as the latest Life Member recipients at the Crows’ Annual Members Meeting on Monday night.
Current player Milera became eligible for Life Membership after clocking up 10 years on the playing list and lining up in more than 100 games.
A lifelong Crows fan, Milera’s childhood dream came true when he was selected by Adelaide with pick No.11 in the 2015 AFL Draft.
Despite being drafted as a forward, he switched to half-back in 2018, and enjoyed his most consistent campaign in 2023, averaging career-best numbers in disposals (19.7), across 22 games.
After an injury interruption, Milera lined up in all 25 games last year, including the Crows’ qualifying and semi-finals.
Caven featured in 83 AFL games for Adelaide, including back-to-back premierships in 1997 and 1998.
The now 55-year-old, who was named the Crows’ Best Team Man in 1998, also found ways to assist the Club after he retired.
He was involved in the first Past Players Committee and later served on the Board of the Past Players and Officials from 2014-19.
The father-of-three became an assistant coach with Adelaide’s AFLW side in 2018 – a role he held until the end of Season Seven.
Additionally, he has assisted the Club in a variety of commercial and corporate roles in the past 20 years, hosting functions, appearances, and the highly successful US sports tours.
Edgecomb joined the Crows’ football department in 2004 as a volunteer on work experience for the pre-season, under former fitness coach Stephen Schwerdt.
He then continued for the 2005 season on an honorarium, before taking on a full-time role as performance analyst assistant.
Edgecomb became senior football analyst in 2011 and it’s a job requiring an above and beyond level of commitment, during the week, as well as at all AFL home and away games. He has worked at more than 400 Adelaide AFL games.
Original Crows AFLW players Ebony Marinoff, Sarah Allan, Anne Hatchard and Stevie-Lee Thompson all received Life Membership late last year.
This year’s trio will be formally recognised at the Crows’ Men’s Club Champion awards night in October.
