The Adelaide Football Club is delighted to announce that Federal Minister Hon Kate Ellis MP has become the Club’s first female Number 1 Ticket Holder.

Lleyton Hewitt continues as the Club’s male Number 1 Ticket Holder, and so, in effect, the Club has joint Number 1 Ticket Holders for the first time.

Kate Ellis is the Federal Member for Adelaide. In 2007 she was elevated to the Labor Government’s front bench as the Minister for Youth and Sport. Following the 2010 election, Kate became the Minister for Employment Participation and Child Care and the Minister for the Status of Women.

Kate is a long time and passionate Adelaide Crows Supporter (and Ambassador) - and a Glenelg supporter in the SANFL. She is also a passionate South Australian, and with her previous experience as Minister for Sport and now responsible for the Status of Women, Kate is ideally placed to be our Club’s first Number 1 Female Ticket Holder.

For interest, the Club has 49 Ambassadors. Those Ambassadors form a strong network of visible support for our Club, with those successful people coming from all walks of life. From that list of Ambassadors our Club appoints a Patron (Robert Gerard AO) and now joint (male and female) Number 1 Ticket Holders.

At a presentation at the Club this morning, Kate Ellis said:
“It is a huge honour to take up this important role with the Club that I have loved and supported for 20 years.

“I would like to thank the Adelaide Crows both for this opportunity and for recognising the significant role that women play in supporting our Club.

“I’m a passionate believer in the power of sport and the positive role it plays in our community.”
