When Wayne Milera looked to have delivered a late matchwinner in Showdown 59, the defender didn’t dwell on the moment after it was overturned.
As the clock ticked down, Milera appeared to have kicked the decisive goal.
But it was disallowed after a free kick was paid against Josh Rachele after a push in the goal square.
Milera quickly reset and was determined to help his team steal back the momentum, and ultimately helped set up Brayden Cook’s match-winning goal.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Milera reflected on the game and his disallowed goal.
“I didn’t actually know what happened, it was one where you didn’t have time to dwell on it or anything,” Milera said.
“It was a free kick, so it was just like ‘alright, go and defend’. We moved on pretty quickly.
“It was an unbelievable game to play in, an awesome atmosphere, probably the loudest I’ve heard it in a while.
“It was a great win and something I’ll remember for a long time.”

Milera, meanwhile, is enjoying arguably his most consistent start to a season and he finished the Showdown with 29 disposals in an influential performance across half-back.
The 28-year-old also recorded 10 intercepts, six marks and six inside-50s.
After missing most of 2024 due to a serious knee injury, Milera said it was pleasing to be back playing solid footy.
“I think (it’s) just having a bit of confidence in myself and feedback from the coaches to play my game and play freely,” Milera said.
“It’s been good.
“I am just looking to continue to build and keep playing good footy to try and get us wins.”
The triumph lifts the Crows to a 4-4 win-loss ledger ahead of a Mother’s Day match against Richmond at the MCG this Sunday afternoon.
Milera is expecting a battle against the Tigers, who are also fresh off a victory in Round Eight.
“It (the win) gets us back even four-and-four, and allows us to launch again and go again for the rest of the season,” Milera said.
“We’ve got Richmond this week, at the G, they had a good win on the weekend, they’re a young team, and confident, so we will be hoping to get the win.
“We scrapped it out a little bit in that first half, but I think in that third quarter we came out and played some good footy.”
Adelaide faces Richmond at the MCG on Sunday at 2.45pm (ACST).
