Injury update: Round 12

Dr Jones & Partners Injury Update: R12 Matt Hass gives us the weekly injury update.

Crows midfielders Matt Crouch (hip) and Rory Sloane (hamstring) will undergo fitness tests at Adelaide’s main training session on Thursday as they push for Round 12 selection.

Crouch came close to making a full recovery ahead of Round 11 but struggled with high force dynamic twisting movements in his final fitness test.

“Matt completed a full main training session last week but unfortunately wasn’t able to complete the final test,” Crows General Manager of High Performance Matt Hass told AFC Media.

“He again completed a 10-12 kilometre session on Saturday so his overground load has been really positive, but he’ll need to regain those more dynamic movements ahead of this weekend.”

Sloane will also make his case later this week after sustaining a hamstring injury in the second quarter of Saturday night’s game.

Hass confirmed the co-captain’s medial hamstring strain was low grade.

“He has been functioning at a high level since Sunday and is a good chance of being available to play this weekend,” Hass said.

“We have a strictly objective process we follow in determining athlete readiness to return to play. This process is likely to result in a test on Thursday or Friday.”
