Injury update: Round 13

Dr Jones & Partners Injury Update: R13 Matt Hass gives us the weekly injury update.

Injured Crow Tom Doedee is expected to resume running in the next fortnight for the first time since injuring his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Round One.

After a breakout season last year, Doedee’s 2019 season was cut short when he sustained the ACL injury against Hawthorn.

Since then, the emerging defender has been vigilant with his rehabilitation.

“Tom’s progressing really nicely, he’s done a huge amount of strength training with Duncan Kellaway, our rehab coordinator,” Crows General Manager of High Performance Matt Hass said.

“He’ll begin running over ground soon so things are looking really positive for Tom at this point in time.”

On Monday, AFC Media confirmed Tom Lynch would miss Thursday night’s clash with the Tigers.

Hass said the Club’s high performance team was confident the experienced forward would return for Adelaide’s clash with Geelong in Round 15.

“Obviously Tommy injured his calf in the warm-up - that’s been scanned and is a really low-grade calf strain,” Hass said.

“However, it does involve the central aponeurosis which will likely take a few extra days to settle down.

“We’ll progress his over ground running later in the week and we’re confident he’ll be back for the Geelong game.”

Following Saturday night’s win over the Giants, Adelaide has now entered a five-day turnaround to Thursday night’s game.

“With the five day turn out of the Giants game to Thursday night, there’s a big focus on recovery,” Hass said.

“We’ll have our main training session today and build normally into the Tigers game from there.”
