Injury update: Round 15

Dr Jones & Partners Injury Update: R15 Matt Hass gives an update on all things injury ahead of round 15.

Crows forward Tom Lynch will miss Adelaide’s clash with Geelong this Friday night after failing to overcome a calf injury.

The 28-year-old sustained the injury in the warm-up before his side’s victory over Greater Western Sydney in Round 12.

Crows General Manager of High Performance Matt Hass said Lynch was showing steady progress.

“Given the nature of his injury which involves the intramuscular tendon, it has taken a little bit longer to rehabilitate, so for this weekend Tom will be unavailable,” Hass told AFC Media on Tuesday.

“We’ll have to reassess early next week as to his availability for following weeks.”

Utility Wayne Milera Junior will face a fitness test on Wednesday in the hope of overcoming a minor back injury.

“In the Richmond game, Wayne aggravated his lower back -  the injury has improved, but hasn’t settled entirely over the four-day break as we hoped,” Hass said.

“He’s been on managed training loads early this week, but will need to be tested through main training to be available.”

First-year Crow Ned McHenry has also been ruled out for this weekend with a back injury he sustained prior to the bye.

“Ned aggravated his lower back following a fall from a marking contest during a training session,” Hass said.

“While he is building solid training loads this week, he is also likely to need at least another week before being ready to return to play.”

Hass also said Crows fans could see injured forward Josh Jenkins back in the tricolours within the next month.

“Josh is out of the brace and walking more comfortably now,” Hass said.

“We’ll get him moving on the Alter-G (anti-gravity treadmill) and progress him to overground running in the coming days.

“From there, we expect him to be back within the next month.”
