Adelaide will unveil its second debutant of the season on Friday night with young forward Ben Davis set to make his first AFL appearance against Geelong at Kardinia Park.

The 22-year-old was the leading goalkicker for the SANFL Crows in 2018, but with a full pre-season under his belt and working closely with ‘link man’ Tom Lynch, Davis has improved and diversified his game.

Playing further up the ground in Adelaide’s SANFL side, Davis has increased his disposal count to 16.7 per game across the opening 10 rounds.

Davis has also averaged seven marks and three inside 50s per game, to go with seven goals for the season.

Speaking to media at Adelaide Airport on Thursday morning, teammate Rory Atkins said Davis was an exciting player who would bring a lot of energy to the side.

“Ben’s worked his backside off and we’re all looking forward to playing with him tomorrow night,” Atkins said.

“He’s a high half-forward, leads up to the ball really well, gives us a great contest and fits into our system perfectly.

“It’s always that little bit more special when the guy has had to wait a little bit longer."

Adelaide will announce its full Round 15 team at 5.55pm ACST on Thursday.
