Crows midfielder Bryce Gibbs has admitted he has had a challenging year, but says he has learned a lot from it.

Gibbs has been in and out of the senior side in 2019, having not played consecutive AFL games since Round Three.

He has played five games in the SANFL and has been named in Adelaide’s best players in all five outings.

The 30-year-old told The Crows Show, brought to you by Optus, that he hasn’t had a year quite like it before.

“It has been a bit of a different year for me, one that’s thrown a lot of challenges and a bit of learning as well,” Gibbs said.

“The way I have attacked it is to try (to) seek as much clarity as I can from the match committee and what they need from me.

“I’m still trying to keep as positive as I can and (am) looking forward to getting back to the side.”

Gibbs said speaking regularly with the coaching staff was an integral part of turning his form around.

“You can have some challenging conversations around selections and they’re important to have,” he said.

“Once you have those conversations, you can go away with a strong plan and try and implement them the best that I can.”

Despite the tough year, Gibbs said he was enjoying spending time with the younger players, which was evident when he invited them all over to watch the State of Origin match last Wednesday.
