Adelaide Coaching director Murray Davis says the Crows’ reliance on early-season depth is starting to pay off, as the Club starts to regain key players.

The Crows’ 17-point win against Melbourne on Saturday was their third-straight following the bye, and Davis said the team’s ability to cover absences across the opening rounds had strengthened the squad.

“What you find out is you have to tap into your depth, and we haven't had the player availability that we had last season,” Davis said.

“You always want your best players playing, but there's a positive in the fact that Josh Worrell misses on the weekend due to illness, and someone else comes in and picks up that role.

“We saw Mark Keane play his first game for us this season, Dan Curtin has come back into the team, so we haven't had those guys all year, but we've been able to stay in the fight.

“That's the most important part, and you hope that when you get to the back end of the season that that pays you back in some way. It takes everyone on the list to be able to contribute, and we're seeing that at the moment.”

The Crows will now turn their attention to Showdown 60, with a clash against crosstown rival Port Adelaide looming.

And in more positive news for Adelaide, the selection committee is set for another bout of tough conversations with more key players set to be available to play.

“That'll be a long match committee tomorrow, and later on in the week, but by all reports, (Josh Worrell) is feeling much better, and he’ll be putting his hand up to play, I’m sure,” Davis said.

“We should see Isaac Cumming, Jordan Butts, and Mitch Hinge should also be close to making the comeback.

“So we've got a few names or magnets that will appear back on the board, that'll give us good conversations to have in that match committee room around how we approach it all.

“I think that's what is healthy within a Club, is competition for spots, and it continues to drive standards and execution and role and diligence around that as well. It's a good position for us to be in.”

Adelaide faces Port Adelaide in Showdown 60 at Adelaide Oval on Saturday at 7.05pm.

Showdown 60 is a Port Adelaide home game, and Crows Memberships will not provide access to the match.
