Adelaide needs to win its last minor round game and rely on other results to jump back into the top six and avoid a Wildcard Final.

Four premiership points separate Adelaide (now seventh) and third-placed Brisbane but Melbourne is the only higher-ranked team with a lower percentage than the Crows.

Adelaide will know more about the possibilities before its clash against GWS at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, after Collingwood and Brisbane face off on Friday night, and then Melbourne meets the Western Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.

If Melbourne loses, a win by the Crows would be enough to secure a return to the top six.

Geelong, which is equal on 56 points with Adelaide but has a five per cent buffer, plays Richmond on Saturday night.

It is possible Adelaide won’t know its final ranking until the last game of the round between West Coast and Hawthorn in Perth on Sunday night.

If Adelaide finishes seventh, it will play either Carlton or the Western Bulldogs in a Wildcard Final at Adelaide Oval.

The AFL’s top 10 was confirmed last weekend but only ladder leader Fremantle and second-placed Sydney are set inside the top six.

WHERE CAN CROWS LAND?

To finish third: Adelaide must defeat GWS, gain some percentage points and needs Brisbane, Hawthorn, Melbourne and Geelong to lose.

To finish fourth: Must beat GWS, gain percentage and rely on three of the four teams immediately above them to lose.

To finish fifth: Needs to beat GWS, gain some percentage and rely on two of the four teams above them to lose.

To finish sixth: Needs to beat GWS, possibly gain some percentage, and rely on one of the four teams above them to lose. If Melbourne loses, Adelaide can replace it in the top six on percentage.

To finish seventh: If the Crows beat GWS and Brisbane, Hawthorn, Melbourne and Geelong all win; or if the Crows lose to GWS.  Eighth-placed Collingwood is a win and nine percent below the Crows.
