Adelaide’s longest-ever serving SANFL development player Jay Boyle, has announced his retirement from the competition after six years and 107 games.

Crows General Manager Football Operations and Compliance, Tom Hurley, thanked Boyle for his contribution to the Club since he joined in 2021.

“A three-time Dean Bailey Award winner and our Club’s first 100-game SANFL development player, Jay has made an outstanding contribution to our Club, and we congratulate him on the legacy he leaves within our SANFL Development Squad program,” Hurley said.

“Jay’s commitment to our program over the past six seasons, his dedication to improving himself, and his determination to win have made him a vital part of our SANFL side.

“He leaves an indelible mark on the program, and we wish him all the very best for the future.”

Boyle debuted for Adelaide in Round One, 2021 against South Adelaide, having previously played five games for Glenelg.

He went on to win the Dean Bailey Award three times, in 2022, 2023 and 2025, recognising him as the season’s best development player.

Along the way, he established himself as a reliable midfielder with a consistent ability to hit the scoreboard.

Boyle is one of only two Adelaide players to have reached 100 SANFL games for the Club, alongside Kieran Strachan, who was AFL-listed from 2018 to 2025.

He also shares the record for the most SANFL finals played by an Adelaide player (eight), alongside former and current captains Matthew Wright and Kieran Strachan, as well as AFL-listed players James Borlase and Brayden Cook.

As the Club closes out its 2026 SANFL season, Hurley also thanked and acknowledged Jay O’Leary, Austin McDonald, Tom Bell and Tate Coleman, who are departing Adelaide’s SANFL Development Program.
