The Crows are preparing to begin their Pride Round with a clash against Richmond at IKON Park on Saturday night.
Needing a win to keep finals hopes alive, Senior Coach Ryan Davis touched on the following topics ahead of the match against the Tigers.
Crows keen to capitalise on opportunities
The Crows will be keen to bounce back against the Tigers after a 14-point loss to Port Adelaide in Showdown V.
Despite the loss, Adelaide led the key stats, including the inside-50 count with 12 more than the Power.
Davis said connection between the midfielders and forwards would be a key focus ahead of this week, after that let the team down last weekend.
“(The focus will be on) just doubling down with some of the work with our contest coming out of the front half,” Davis said.
“There was a little bit of disconnect between our half-forwards and our mids, so we've doubled down on that in our education.
“We’ll get after that today in training, so we should see a much more cohesive unit on the weekend. We play the bigger grounds pretty well, we've got a lot of good runners, so we should be seeing some good connection from our mids to our forwards.
“Our back line's going really well, giving us a lot of good good bounce.
“It’s just our ability to execute that going forward.”
Teah Charlton’s permanent midfield move
Teah Charlton has become a bonafide midfielder this season after predominantly lining up in the forward line in 2025.
Charlton has thrived with the Crows’ on-ball brigade this year, playing all nine games, while averaging 14.5 disposals, and 6.6 tackles.
The 24-year-old, who helped design this year’s Pride guernsey, also signed a contract extension keeping her at the Crows until at least 2030.
Davis said Charlton’s influence extended beyond the footy field.
“She's an integral piece to our program and our team, the fabric of the joint,” Davis said.
“She's developing year-on-year, and we're seeing some much more midfield time for her this year.
“She's been pivotal for us, so to have her in around the joint until 2030 is a huge win for the footy Club.
Reflecting on a heated Showdown V
Last weekend’s Showdown V proved the rivalry between crosstown rivals Adelaide and Port Adelaide well and truly extends into the AFLW competition.
On-field tensions boiled over, as teammates rushed to defend each other.
Davis said Adelaide's players would always support one another, but maintaining discipline remained an important balance.
“I think certain aspects of it were quite good. When we give away ill-disciplined free kicks, that's the part where you probably need to draw the line,” Davis said.
“But (when) our teammates are sticking up for one another, 100 per cent (in favour).”
A month to shape the season
Adelaide has four games remaining in its home-and-away campaign, beginning with Sunday's clash against Richmond at Ikon Park.
The Crows enter the round with a 3-5 record and will be looking to quickly rebound from last week's Showdown defeat.
Although admitting earning a finals berth would be tough, Davis said building consistency across the final month of the season was the aim.
“It's (the season) on a knife's edge for sure, but we're in it until we're not,” Davis said.
“We've obviously got a huge huge game this weekend against Richmond, so all our focus is purely on that.
“There's no point looking much further or waiting to see what results might happen elsewhere. We've just got to take care of our backyard.”
Adelaide faces Richmond at IKON Park on Saturday at 6.45pm (ACDT).
The match will be broadcast live on 7Mate Adelaide, Fox Footy and Kayo.
