Paul Seedsman’s long-range goal against Sydney on Friday night will be remembered for quite some time.

But it wasn't memorable enough for the judges of the AFL Goal of the Week, with Seedsman's effort overlooked by goals form Mason Cox, Lance Franklin and Jack Petruccelle.

With Sherrin in hand on a half-forward flank, Seedsman sized up the goals at the northern end of the SCG well over 60 metres out from home.

“As soon as I marked it, I heard the siren go,” Seedsman told reporters at Adelaide Airport on Saturday afternoon.

“I thought ‘I reckon I can get the journey’ and it was just whether I went a drop punt or a torp.

“I practiced the torp a couple of weeks ago and I hit a couple of flush ones so I thought I might give it a go. Luckily, I hit it well.”

Seedsman’s torpedo punt looked like going all the way as soon as it left the boot.

But he admits to a fleeting nervous moment after raising his index finger to the skies before being given the all clear.

“I thought it had the shape and I went the early celebration,” Seedsman said.

“Then I saw it dropping and I thought ‘oh no, this mightn’t make the distance’ but the boys did some good work on the line.

“Sauce [Sam Jacobs], he’s claiming 50 per cent of it because he reckons he got it over.”

Seedsman's first 30 minutes of football for 2019 were impressive.

The wingman was in scintillating form early on Friday night, collecting 10 disposals in the opening quarter against the Swans to go with five marks and an enormous 369 metres gained.

While the 27-year-old couldn’t sustain his hot streak across the four quarters, finishing with 17 touches, it was a positive start which Seedsman will look to build on in Round Three.

“I felt the pinch in the second half, so hopefully I’ll be better for the run next week,” he said.

“But it was good to get involved early.”

The Crows now turn their focus to Geelong, with the two sides facing off in a Thursday night blockbuster at Adelaide Oval next week.
