Two-time Premiership co-captain and AFLW league best-and-fairest Erin Phillips has capped a busy week by re-signing with Adelaide for another year.
Phillips has signed on to remain with the Crows AFLW team next season just days after she was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours which recognised her contribution to both Australian Rules Football and basketball over two decades.
The 36-year-old said she would continue playing at the highest level for as long as her body would allow her.
“I'm not going into this season thinking it's my last. Hopefully there's a couple of years still left in me,” Phillips said.
“I’ve been given the green light by my surgeon and medical staff at the Crows after my knee arthroscopy earlier this year and I feel confident that my body still has good footy left in me.
“I’m really excited to have signed on with this incredible team for another year. We fell heartbreakingly short last season and I want to have another go at getting back there.”
“It is fantastic news that Erin has agreed to play on next season as she is a great member of the team,” Crows Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said.
“Erin led our best and fairest halfway through last year, but a knee problem limited her output in the second half of the season.
“We look forward to seeing her at her best again in her sixth season for the Crows.”
