Kieran Strachan has been named to play his second AFL game after Reilly O’Brien was ruled out with a knee injury.

Strachan has been in fantastic form in the SANFL, averaging 16 touches and 36 hitouts across 15 games in 2021.

On Thursday, Crows captain Rory Sloane said he was extremely excited to see Strachan play.

“Big Strachany has been knocking the door down for a good month of footy,” Sloane said.

“I’m not sure how many people have watched his SANFL games but he’s been incredibly consistent.

“I know sometimes timing is everything and sometimes you just need a crack. Big ROB is a little sore, so Strachany can come in.

“What a challenge it sets him (against Max Gawn) for his second game of AFL footy.”

Strachan is one of seven inclusions to Adelaide’s 26-man squad named for Sunday’s clash with Melbourne at the MCG.

Lachlan Sholl, Shane McAdam, Ben Davis, Sam Berry, Lachlan Gollant and Billy Frampton have all been named on the extended interchange.

Brodie Smith and Will Hamill will miss the game on Sunday under the AFL’s concussion protocol.

Adelaide’s final 22-man side will be named on Friday afternoon.
