Adelaide engaged in a bold trade with Greater Western Sydney at the 2023 AFL National Draft to secure Curtin. The Giants were on the clock with Pick No.8, before agreeing to the trade, resulting in Adelaide giving up Pick No.11, 15 and a future second-rounder, in exchange for Pick No.8 and 17. The Crows then used Pick No.8 to select Curtin. Considered the best key defenders in his draft year, Curtin is a 197cm left footer with excellent speed, agility and foot skills. He had an outstanding national championships for WA, where he averaged 23 disposals and six marks per game playing as a defender and midfielder. He was named WA’s MVP and in the under-18 All Australian team, as well as playing senior footy including finals for Claremont and in an under-18 premiership.
