Young Crow Charlie Edwards will make his AFL debut against St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

The 20-year-old was selected as a midfielder with pick No.21 at the 2023 AFL Draft, before making a switch to half-back last year in the SANFL.

Edwards, however, returned to the Crows’ midfield fold this pre-season, and earned an AFL debut after putting together a strong bout of form in the Club’s recent SANFL games.

Across the opening two SANFL games this season, Edwards has averaged 24.5 disposals, six clearances and eight inside-50s.

Crows Executive General Manager Football Adam Kelly said Edwards deserved an opportunity after consistent hard work and dedication since he arrived at the Club.

“Charlie’s journey to this point is a great example of what strong development and persistence can look like,” Kelly said.

“He came into the Club as a first round pick in the 2023 draft after a junior career where he showed real versatility and growth across roles.

“He’s taken the time to build his game at SANFL level, embraced positional changes, and continued to improve his consistency and understanding of what’s required at AFL level. His performances and attitude have put him firmly in the mix for selection this season, and this debut is a well earned opportunity.

“It’s an exciting moment for Charlie, his family and everyone who has been part of his journey, and we’re looking forward to seeing him take that next step.”

Adelaide faces St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on Saturday at 7.10pm.

The broadcast will start on Channel 7 Adelaide from 8.30pm.
