New recruit Billy Frampton will “fit right in” at West Lakes, according to new Senior Coach Matthew Nicks.

The former Power ruck-forward was traded to the Crows on Tuesday, just hours after Nicks - who was an assistant coach at Alberton from 2011 to 2018 - took over the reins at Adelaide.

The pair will reunite for the 2020 season - this time on the other side of the cross-town rivalry.

Speaking to AFC Media, Nicks said he was excited to see what Frampton would add to Adelaide’s rejuvenating list.

“He’s a competitor, he really enjoys that contest so he’ll fit right in as far as the way we want to play our footy,” Nicks said.

“He’s got some real X factor.

“We’ll give him the best opportunity to play his best football, whether that’s in the ruck or as a key forward target for us.”

Nicks was an assistant coach at Port Adelaide when Frampton was drafted with pick No.84 in the 2014 national draft.

It has been a year since the duo worked together - with Nicks joining Greater Western Sydney as a senior assistant coach for 2019 - and Nicks said he was eager to see Frampton’s growth.

“I worked with him 12 months ago and what you find with these young, solid, strong ruckman is they sometimes take some time to develop,” Nicks said.

“So I have no doubt that 12 months on he’ll be even stronger than what I saw him at.”
