New director at Crows
The SA Football Commission has appointed two Directors to the Adelaide Football Club Board.
Long serving Directors Andrew Payze and Paul Rofe QC, whose terms expired at the Adelaide Football Club Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 12 December, were eligible to seek re-election.
The Commission re-appointed Andrew Payze and appointed Rob Chapman, Managing Director of BankSA, to the position left vacant by Paul Rofe, who did not seek re-election.
Andrew Payze was first appointed to the Adelaide Board in January 2001 and has completed his second full term as a Director. The Commission re-appointed Andrew for a further three year term.
Rob Chapman: A leading South Australian business identity, Rob Chapman was also appointed to the Board for a three year term. The Managing Director of BankSA and a Group Executive of St George Bank – Australia’s fifth largest bank, Rob leads a staff of 1225 people and manages an assets portfolio of more than $12 billion. Rob’s career spans more than 20 years in financial planning, insurance and banking and considerable experience in sales and management. He holds numerous Directorships including President of Business SA, Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Catholic Church Diocesan Finance Council.
A devoted family man, Rob is a keen supporter of the Adelaide Crows and is excited about the opportunity to join the Adelaide Board - given Rob’s experience and skill set he will bring great value to the Adelaide Football Club Board during his three year term.
Paul Rofe QC: A Board member since 1999, Paul Rofe QC advised the Commission that he would not seek re-appointment.
In thanking the Commission for the opportunity to serve the AFC Board for a period of eight years, Paul Rofe said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Director. During that time the Board has performed extremely well as is reflected in the achievements of the AFC both on and of the field.”
SANFL Executive Commissioner, Leigh Whicker, on behalf of the SA Football Commission thanked Paul for his contribution.
“The Commission wishes to acknowledge the loyal service of Paul Rofe to the Adelaide Football Club,” Whicker said. “We take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation to Paul for his service and contribution to the Adelaide Football Club Board and South Australian football.”
The Chairman of the Adelaide Football Club, Bill Sanders added, “I wish to place on record the Adelaide Football Club’s appreciation of the contribution to our club of former director Paul Rofe QC. After eight years of loyal service on the Board, Paul’s decision to not stand for a further term was respectfully accepted."
